Commodore Md. Shahidullah Al Faruq, (E), NPP, BCGMS, ndc, psc, BN joined Bangladesh Navy on 01 January, 1994 and was commissioned on 01 July, 1996. He completed his graduation in BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering Technology (CUET) and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET). He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur and obtained MSc in Military Science from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). He completed his National Defence Course from National Defence College, Mirpur and obtained Masters in Social Science (MSS) in Security and Development from BUP. Apart from all mandatory training, Cdre Al Faruq had undergone number of training courses at home and abroad. Few mentionable are Missile Engine Engineers course at Naval Aeronautical Engineering Institute in China, Marine Engineering System Management Course (MESMC) at Pakistan Navy Engineering College. He had a good mix of sea, instructional and staff appointments. He served in different naval ships including Large Patrol Crafts (LPC), Missile Boats, Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) and Frigates. He had the opportunity to serve at Naval Headquarters as Staff Officer, Deputy Director and Director. He also served Bangladesh Coast Guard Headquarters as Director Engineering. He served all shipyard and dockyards of Bangladesh Navy as Deputy General Manager and General Manager. Commodore Al Faruq served as Military Observer at United Nations Mission in Liberia. He was awarded Bangladesh Navy peacetime medal 'Nou Parodorshita Padak' (NPP). He also received 'Bangladesh Coast Guard Medal Sheba' (BCGMS) and commendation from Director General Bangladesh Coast Guard for his professional excellence and distinguished services. Prior joining to KSY he had been working as Director of Naval Engineering in Naval Headquarters. He is happily married and blessed with a son and a daughter.
